I have been trying for 3 weeks to get my son a appointment to no avail, when you ring the practice they don't answer the phone and when you attend the surgery 2 of the Receptionist's are not very helpful and tell you that "you know what you can do then if your not satisfied " which means go to another practice I don't think so I've been at newgate medical group for 50 years and it's never been like this.

The service here is absolutely shocking. I am supposed to be on a repeat prescription for anti depressants and every single month I get down to my last tablets and have to ring and manually order them, in which I can barely get through on my break at work. How hard can it be!? I have even asked in the past “is this definitely on repeat because I have to ring every month” and get assured that they are. Do people need the added stress? The conversations I have had with staff here have been varied, some seem inconvenienced by me calling them whereas others are quite helpful. Nobody is being inconvenienced in this situation other than me keep having to ring! I have patience with an admin issue once as I know everyone has a job to do and sometimes factors can affect things, however every month is ridiculous. I am fed up to say the least.

There is no continuity of care here anymore. You can never get an appointment in an acceptable time frame, let alone see your assigned GP. For people with chronic health conditions/co morbidities accessing your assigned GP even occasionally is essential. It is frustrating that I can’t. Being passed around different medical professionals is a poor attempt in maintaining continuity of care. The GPs that I have seen have all been professional; but due to my long term health issues I would feel more confident if I could form a relationship with my assigned GP. The phone system is poor, with long waits. The reception staff are a mixed bunch. I personally find the most recently employed receptionists to be the most friendly; others, in what I can only assume in their quest to appear professional have taken it a step too far, and come across ‘anti patient.’ This is a pity for the receptionists who do make the effort to advocate the practice. A smile, or an apology for ‘keeping you waiting’ at the desk whilst they are on the computer isn’t too hard after all. Front of house is so important in any business.

Recently saw a Dr Virk about my long term chronic back pain, after 3 surgery’s last one not working at all I was feeling very disappointed and down, my surgeon was under the illusion that it worked, I know my own body and knew it hadn’t. I saw Dr Virk for the first time and he was very sympathetic and agreed my chronic groin pain was linked to my back. I must also mention the Reception Manager Jodie Cooper, nothing is too much trouble, she is professional and empathetic.

Brilliant reception staff and very helpful Doctors and all other medical staff first class very understanding respectful at all times
